For Applicants
Who can apply to Portiva?
Filipino citizens currently residing in the Philippines with at least 1 year of experience in a healthcare support role. This includes registered nurses, medical graduates, clinic administrators, medical billers, and other healthcare professionals.
Do I need prior virtual assistant experience?
Prior VA experience is preferred but not always required. If you have a healthcare background and strong English communication skills, you may still qualify. Portiva provides role-specific training before placement.
What roles are available?
Portiva screens for multiple roles including Medical VA (Admin), Prior Authorization Specialist, Insurance Verification Specialist, Medical Billing Support, Medical Receptionist, and Executive Assistant (Healthcare). We also have openings for Multimedia VAs and Legal VAs.
What is the pay rate?
Most virtual medical assistant roles start at $7/hour. Rates may vary depending on the specific role and your level of experience.
When and how do I get paid?
Salary is paid bi-weekly through direct deposit. Payments are always on time — and sometimes released earlier than scheduled.
What are the working hours?
All clients are U.S.-based, so shifts follow U.S. business hours. This typically means night shifts in Philippine time. Your exact schedule depends on your client’s time zone.
Is there an assessment?
Yes. Qualified candidates receive a role-based assessment that takes no more than 1.5 hours. It evaluates the specific skills required for the position you applied for — not generic trivia.
What equipment do I need?
You need a personal computer with at least an Intel Core i3 processor, 8 GB RAM, Windows 10/11 or macOS 14+, a wired internet connection of at least 50 Mbps, a USB noise-canceling headset, and an HD webcam.
Does Portiva use monitoring software?
Yes. Portiva uses Hubstaff for time tracking. This ensures accurate payroll based on your logged working hours.
What happens if my client leaves?
If a client partnership ends for reasons unrelated to your performance or policy violations, you are placed back into the pipeline for re-endorsement to another client.
Are there health benefits?
Currently, Portiva does not offer HMO or health benefits. VAs are engaged as independent contractors responsible for their own SSS, PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG contributions.
Does Portiva charge applicants any fees?
No. Portiva does not charge applicants any fees. Training is free. There are no placement fees, deposits, or deductions from your pay.

Our standard rate is $7/hour with no setup fees, no contracts, and no hidden charges. You can cancel anytime.
What tasks can a Portiva VA handle?
Our VAs handle appointment scheduling, medical documentation, insurance verification, prior authorization, patient communication, medical billing support, and general administrative tasks.
How quickly can I get a VA?
Our typical placement timeline is 2 to 3 weeks from initial consultation to VA start date.
Are Portiva VAs HIPAA trained?
Yes. All Portiva virtual medical assistants receive HIPAA compliance training as part of their onboarding process.
Can I scale my team up or down?
Absolutely. You can add or reduce VAs at any time with no long-term commitments.
What if the VA is not a good fit?
Portiva offers a replacement guarantee. If your assigned VA is not meeting expectations, we will match you with a new one.
